The Seed is in the Need

Hello TWCC Friends and Family,

Precious and powerful child of God, picture for a moment a farmer who just bought his first bag of seed and first acre of land. He plants those seeds into that land. Why? Because he knows that with some time and proper care, those seeds will grow into a harvest that he can sell and also enjoy. This may seem like an obvious question, but if he wants to harvest corn, what kind of seed does he need to plant? Corn seed! And if he wants to have ten acres’ worth of harvest, how many acres does he need to plant? Ten acres! We can see that within the topic of sowing and reaping, both the type of seed and the quantity of seed matter.

I know this is really super basic, but these principles are oh so important for each of us to know and apply to our lives. We need to first understand that seeds produce their own kind. Corn seed grows corn. Apple seeds grow apple trees that blossom with apples in due season. We don’t plant apple seeds and expect corn to grow, right? Genesis 1:12 says: “The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind…” So we see here again the basic truth that seeds produce their own kind.

Let’s also talk for a moment about quantity, because that matters too. In 2 Corinthians 9:6 we read: “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” If you only plant one acre of land, you can’t be mad when only one acre produces crops. On the flip side, if you invest in planting ten acres, you can look forward to the abundance of ten acres of harvest in due time.

So then the question for you to consider today is: what do you need more of? The seed is in the need! And a seed will meet any need! Remember, if you need corn, you plant corn seeds. So…what do you need — do you need more clothes? Gift some of your current clothes to someone in need. Do you need more kind and affirming words in your life? Give out sincere, kind words to others as often as you can! Do you need more income? Give of what you do have to help others. Don’t be discouraged by lack in a certain area…rather, view what you DO have in that area as SEED — and sow some it, so that the Lord can reap a harvest in your life at just the right time! Remember also, Proverbs 11:24 – 25 says that “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.” In other words, lack doesn’t come from money you don’t have; however, lack comes from money you do have that you shouldn’t have.

Quantity matters too. We know that those who sow sparingly, reap sparingly. But, those who sow generously will reap generously. That’s a Kingdom Law — a Bible truth that you can take to the bank. As you sow in small increments, you’ll start seeing blessings coming your way in similar increments. You may then choose to sow in larger increments, and God is faithful to perform His Word — you will see blessings come back to you in those larger increments!

>>Now, is any of this instant? Nope! Absolutely not.

This is not a magic potion, no lucky charm so to speak, and no pixie dust here. Our harvest will come in after a season of sowing and patience…much like a farmer can’t plant seeds one day and get frustrated that there’s no harvest the next day, we can’t expect this to be a instant process! But, we are talking about spiritual truths that are always active and in motion. We simply need to become knowledgeable about the basic law of sowing and reaping, and then jump in that river. It’s a very GOOD thing to be in the flow of God’s supernatural economy — come on now somebody! Glory to God!  There is absolute, full assurance that as we sow our seed with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we WILL reap a harvest in due time.

I know you’re thinking that it couldn’t get any better than that — but wait until you hear this! 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 tells us: “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous…” When God can see that you’re a sower — not just a taker and consumer, but rather you have a true giver’s heart — He will supply your seed! That’s what it means to be blessed and generous…you get to enjoy partaking in blessings and giving away freely to others, as a way of life — and wow is that an exciting way to live!

Pray This and Say This Out Loud: “Father, thank You for the spiritual law of sowing and reaping. Lord, I want to live the blessed and generous life! I want to be blessed to be a blessing! I ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in helping me to see the seeds I have and where to sow them, and I trust that You’ll bring in a harvest for me in due season. Thank You also that You will supply more and more seed, as I make generosity my genuine, heartfelt way of life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Friends, Isaiah 32:8 reminds us that “… a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.” I’m so thankful we were enabled by The Lord to get Pastor Mark Hankins’ new book “How to Receive God’s Extravagant Generosity” into many of your hands yesterday at Church. We trust it will catapult each of you to a NEW level of generous giving and generous receiving in Jesus’ Name.
Take a moment to watch this mini video clip from Pastor Beth Jones entitled “The Generous Life”. It really good, inspiring and insightful. In it you’ll discover the basic secrets to plugging into God’s supernatural economy. Not only does He want to bless you abundantly, but He also wants to bless others through you! That’s an amazing and exciting way to live — and God wants that for you! So, leaked a look at it to learn a small of the essential basics of living the blessed and generous life.
