If You Want the Baton, Run Faster!

Here’s a verse to encourage you today:
“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should…”1 Corinthians 9:24, NLT
The Promise behind this verse is: “There is prize for our Press (our Running our God-ordained RACE), by His power and grace. The Principle to practice behind this is: IF YOU WANT THE BATON, RUN FASTER. The Pattern for us to live and govern our life and behavior by us: 1st – Start Running if your crawling or walking and 2nd – Run Faster if you’re running! Friends, we are living in Lord as the anchor leg of the Eternity Relay Race in God’s Kingdom. We’ve got to RUN and RUN FASTER!
Run faster…run like you want to win. And ask God for new measures of wisdom, grace and capacity. (And be prepared to successfully endure all it takes to get an enlarged capacity!)

Think about it. At some point, the people in front of you want to pass the baton! Your parents, your boss, your Pastors or the company owner aren’t going to be leading the parade forever. One day, they will pass the baton, but to who?
To the runner who can keep pace with them and better yet, run faster and farther! To the runner who can grab the baton and move everything forward! Not to a runner who is lazy, disorganized, going slow, sitting back and waiting for the baton with an entitled attitude. Remember, dear friends the time to be ready is not the same time to get ready! We encourage each of you to spend extra quality time in the Word of God and in prayer and preparation to get ready to run faster!
Instead of waiting entitled, start prepare and stretching yourself to grow, learn, glean and improve your walk, work and witness in Christ. If you want the baton, learn how to outrun your parents, your boss, your Pastors or the company owner. Show them you don’t make excuses, you don’t show up late, you don’t forget deadlines or mismanage your income. Show them you’ve got the motivation, optimism, dedication, discipline, work ethic, people skills, administrative ability, vision, a growing and expanding pain tolerance/threshold – Emotional Quotient (EQ) and a competent leadership quotient and character needed to keep the organization moving forward at the same speed or faster.
I don’t know any leaders, founders or influencers who want to pass the baton and watch things go backwards. But we know many leaders who regularly look around their organizations to see if anyone is running faster than they or if anyone will emerge with the leadership gifts and anointing to take things further, faster!

MAKE THIS DECLARATION BY FAITH
“Lord, I run with purpose in every step — I run to win. I allow the Lord Jesus Christ the Head of the Church to put me in my place, empower and enable me to run my race and increase and multiply by His grace. I yield and surrender to The Lord’s work in me and through me to RUN and run faster to the glory of God! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
