What is the Price of a Soul?

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew

16:26, KJV

What price is a soul worth? These days, people spend so much of their time, energy, mind, strength and life seeking material things. Seeking to outdo their neighbors. Seeking to impress people they don’t even care about. Seeking to gain the world. For what purpose? And at what cost?

Gaining the world will cost you – maybe your health, your joy, your peace, your integrity and reputation, your marriage, your family, your relationship with your kids and others. And the biggie — if you’re so busy chasing after the things of this world that you have no time for a relationship with Jesus in your life, it’s going to cost you your soul.

But, there is a better way! God’s way. By doing things His way and seeking first His kingdom, we end up gaining so much more — including eternal life! When we quit doing life our own way, we win. “The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” (Prov. 10:22) When we make our relationship with Jesus and doing things His way a priority, He blesses our lives – He makes us rich in every way – without the need for sorrow, remorse, regret or apology!

Friends, I suggest that each of us draw close to God, and we each cultivate a close, living and vital relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. His coming is drawing near and it’s important to give the Lord our total focus and commitment each and every day.

Pray and Say This Out Loud: “Father, I ask You for Your mercy and grace to help me get on the right track. I don’t want to care more about the things of this world than a relationship with you. I don’t want to lose my health, marriage, kids, integrity or relationships and I definitely don’t want to lose my soul. Lord, help me to quit doing things my own way. Help me to follow You for the rest of my days. I would rather have Your blessings in my life than all the “things” of the world. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
