How to Know Jesus

How to Know Jesus...
Dear Friend,

God loves you and cares for you so much that He send His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be a sacrifice for you.

How to Become a Christian:
Do you know where you stand with God?
If you were to die today where would you spend eternity?  In eternal peace and joy with God? Or, perish in eternal damnation and torment away from the love of God and His joyous Presence in a place the Bible calls hell?  Heaven? or Hell?  There is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun!  The choice is yours.

Many people attempt to find peace in heart and peace with God.  But, if you have never made Jesus the Lord of you life, then you are separated from God by sin.  You are the reason God sent Jesus to the cross.  St John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him [Jesus Christ] should not perish, but have everlasting life."  God loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son for you! Second Corinthians 5:21 says that God made Jesus, Who knew no sin, to be sin for us...". Jesus was the spotless Son of God.  He knew no sin, but God made Him to be sin for us.  Sin was the reason Jesus came to earth.  He died on the Cross and went to heall for one reason:  to pay the price for sin.  One that price was paid, Jesus was raised from the dead, triumphant over Satan; and the sin problem was taken care of.

God does not hold your sin against you.  The only thing keeping you from becoming a child of God is failure to turn from your present world and your present god, which is Satan, and make Jesus the Lord over your life.  If you do choose to make Jesus your Lord, God will receive you as His very own child.  You will become a part of God's family.  He will be your Father and you will be His child.  This is not just a theological idea; this is a fact. It actually happens!  When you become a Christian - when you become born again - take on the nature of God, your Heavenly Father. This new birth is a necessity to being saved.  Through the new birth you come in the right relationship to God. The Lord Jesus Christ taught that a man must be born again.
  • "...Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (St John 3:3)
  • "...Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (St John 3:5)
  • "...Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven" (St Matthew 18:3)
  • "...except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (St Luke 13:3,5)

The new birth (being born again) is not: confirmation - church membership - water baptism - the taking of sacraments - observing religious duties - an intellectual reception of Christianity - orthodoxy of faith - going to church - saying prayers - reading the Bible - being moral - being cultured or refined - doing good deeds - doing your best - nor any of the many other things some mem are trusting to save them. Nicodemus, whom Jesus addressed concerning the new birth, possessed most of the qualities we just listed, but Jesus said to him, "Ye must be born again" (St John 3:7) Being born again is spiritual rebirth! You are born of the Spirit of God.

You must believe by faith in what Jesus did at the cross for our sin, and believe that God raised Him [Jesus] from the dead for our justification.  The Bible gives some specific instructions that you are to follow in order to become a Christian, or in order to be born again.  Look at Romans 10:8-11:

"....The word in nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart:  that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thous shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righeousness; and with the mouth confessin is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." Jesus said, "Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (St John 6:37).  No matter what kind of sinner you are, no matter what you have done, you can go to Jesus and He will accept you.  Once you go to Him, then He will cause you to be born again!!!

A Sinner's Prayer to Receive Jesus as Savior

Dear Heavenly Father... I come to You in the Name of Jesus.

Your Word says, "...him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37), so I kno You won't cast me out, but You take me in and I thank You for it.

You said in Your Word, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).  I am calling on Your Name, so I know You have saved me now.

You also said "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9,10). I believe in my heart Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  I believe that He was raised from the dead for my justification, and I confess Him now as my Lord.

Because Your Word says, "...with the heart man believeth unto righteousness..." and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)... And I am saved and born again!

Thank You, Lord Jesus!
